Who Am I Going to Marry?

It's been three weeks now that The Little One has been mulling over a very important and life changing question.

Three weeks ago, I saw him deep in thought. It was apparent that he was stressed out. His eyebrows were knit and his little face was scrunched up, the way he concentrates when he's writing his letters carefully enough to touch the correct lines on the page.

I asked him:
"What are you thinking about?"

He answered:
"Who am I going to marry?"

Of course, I was shocked. Not even my teenagers worry about that! WT?

So, I asked:
"Why are you thinking about that?"

He answered matter of factly:
"I need to get married, so I can get a job in NYC and be a father."

I had to ask, right?

So, I told him he didn't need to worry about things like that. He had plenty of time for that. For now, he should enjoy watching cartoons, playing video games, going to school and playing at recess.

He then asks:
"Can I marry Cookie?"

I answer:
"NO! Cookie is your cousin and she is too old for you anyway." (She's in the 8th grade and he's in the 3rd.)

I'm sure you can understand why I was so shocked. Where did he get this from?

So, I asked his siblings. They all got a good laugh. No one could remember a movie or TV show he had watched recently that revolved around this topic.

Then, I asked his dad. Should have done that first.
His father had asked him:
"What do you want to be when you grow up?"

The Little One answered:
"I want to be a daddy."

Of course, that melted his father's heart. Who wouldn't love that affirmation, right? He didn't leave it at that. He told him, he had to get a job, get married and then have kids. Great! Now we know how he got the idea in his head.

At least he got the order right... lol.

'marriage' is so close to 'mirage'. if you take the 'I' out of 'married' you end up marred

Kids grow up so fast today... What happened to the days of wondering if you wanted to be a fireman?
Thanks,
