I Have Way Too Much Fun With My Kids

There are a lot of issues that arise from having a large family. One of them is the obvious, expenses. There are other issues like blended families...I won't go there.

There are days I wonder how life would be if I was single, but I think I'd be bored and unhappy. I have fun with my kids. Sometimes I think I have too much fun. Don't get me wrong, there are days I'm overwhelmed. For example, when I get a migraine. Recently, they've been hitting me at least 4 times a week. I say hitting because that's what it feels like. Like someone is hitting me on the head-with a bat.

The night before last, my two older sons were playing XBOX 360 Live. They were in the living room-well because Little One's dad bought a 46 inch flat screen TV to watch The SuperBowl. Now they don't like the 50 inch TV we had because it's big and it's not HD. WT??? Anyway, they had the sound filtering through the TV. For those of you with hubbies and teens that are online gamers...you know what that sounds like. It's testosterone with a side of profanity being served 24/7.

The Entrepreneur decided to leave the game he was participating in with school friends and join another team. He joined up with a bunch of kids from the UK.

That's where it got good.

Jordie sounded like Ozzy Osbourne. We told him to slow down, so that we could understand him.

Gaming turned into a history lesson. I asked my sons to ask what part of the UK he lived in. He was thrilled to find out we lived in NY. Jordie asked if NY looked like it does in Grand Theft Auto. Isn't that funny? They discuseed Ellis Island, Liverpool, Soulja Boy and the Queen of England. I aksed the kids to get his myspace, those UK kids use Bebo. The topic turned to President Obama. He broke out into the Obama rap... We were rolling...

Both groups of kids asked questions and it turned into a cultural exchange...while they played some War Game LOL!

I laughed so hard and thought, "I'm blessed. I better enjoy these moments and remember as much as I can." The Comedian will be 17 in August and The Entrepreneur will be 14. The Chatterbox graduates from high school in June..thank God! The Diva will be 16 in July, the Princess will be 11 in Nov. The Little One will be 8 in September. My oldest is on a sub in the sea, 21 on Dec.

Time goes by so fast. I have to make sure to engrave every moment and create memories because they'll be leaving this nest pretty soon...

Love your post and the fact that you recognize to keep in memory that moment in time. Kids do grow up very fast and eventually leave to create their own families.
Hope your migraines go away soon.

lol ..... I love that UK story, how cool is that?! Crap, I only have Cook and Zae, and though at times it seems like they're 7, I can never really imagine 7. You should be proud of yourself girl, you've done a fantastic job with each of them ;-) ... Nilka
