My son is in the middle school and I often tease him about his "fan club". The little girls have lost their minds. I've had little girls call here crying, yeah and they're not even dating. The Diva is always weary of little girls that befriend her. They are usually overfriendly and want to invite her over or be invited here. It's transparent. The Chatterbox has no heart. She doesn't even allow them to get close enough to her to talk. Then again, she is a senior and these girls are 8th graders. You do remember the social hiearchy of school kids? Sometimes she refers to them as his stalkers. Well...they are..kind of.
Teaching my sons to treat women with respect is very important. The last thing I want is for them to be like their dad. The problem is that I end up having to teach the girls how to respect themselves too. They don't understand when a boy is not interested and resort to some really insane behavior.
Wanna laugh?
The SADD (Students Against Destrructive Decisions) was having a membership drive in the middle school. My son knows that his sister is the treasurer for that club (she's in the high school). He walked up to the list to sign up. He was about to sign the list and sees that one of his "fans" had signed up. Not a big deal, right?
It wouldn't be, except she signed up with her first name and my son's LAST NAME. Apparently, she married my son.
Now, I know lots of teens do this with celebrity's names. It's common. However, this girl signed up for an extra curricular activity with some boy's last name. How does she suppose the teachers will figure that one out? Everyone else knows that she's "in love" with my son, but that's a bit much.
Here's another one:
Sometimes between classes, he leaves some of his stuff in his best friend's locker. That way he doesn't have to carry his gym clothing, extra textbooks, etc. He has 4 close friends, 1 is a male and the other 3 are females. This friend is a girl. Here's what happened.
Apparently, some of the girls in his fan club found out he left his stuff in the girl's locker. (Three girls, to be exact.) One of them had the combo, so they took his stuff. In his gym bag, he had his sidekick. They filled up his photos with pictures of themselves. They changed his phone's default picture with one of their own. They also went through his text messages and phone numbers and wrote them down. I don't think I have to tell you how catty 13 yo girls can be.
That afternoon, he came home really upset. He told me the story. I know it was mean, but I couldn't stop laughing. That is after I made sure he got his cellphone back. (It's on a plan, not pay as you go).
You know, I get more laughs from my kid's daily life then I do from any show on TV. I couldn't make this stuff up...
