Can We Believe Hope Will Bring Change in America? Yes, We Can!

Does going to the pump stress you out? When snow is in the forecast, are the cheers from your children drowned out by the worry of an increased heating hill? At the supermarket's checkout line, do you find yourself putting back necessary items because you worry about your next gas station visit?

As a mother of 7 (6 at home), I know this all too well. There are times I have to miss a car payment to pay the heating bill. Does anyone really have to live like this as citizen of the United States? Thinking this was just my case, I suffered in silence. The other day, a mom confided in me..that she didn't have the money to put gas in their vehicle either. Her house was being foreclosed and the kids were growing through growth spurts. Her husband is a contractor and it's winter in NY.

This morning I heard a statistic that shocked me. Are you ready for this unbelievable, but true fact? Exxon set an annual profit record by earning $40.61 billion last year - or nearly $1,300 per second in 2007. The worst part is that the current administration allowed it. Here's an excerpt from Senate Passes Energy Bill Without House Tax Package

Democrats had argued that the tax measure, including about $13 billion raised from the oil industry, was modest and simply took back tax breaks that oil companies had received, along with other manufacturers, in 2004 and that they did not need with oil prices around $90 a barrel.

"The future just failed by one vote. The past was preserved," Sen. Richard J. Durbin (D-Ill.) said after the vote. "The oil companies are now celebrating in their boardrooms."

Republicans said higher taxes on oil companies would not help lower prices for consumers.

The American Petroleum Institute
issued a statement saying, "We applaud the Senate for recognizing the adverse effect that increased taxes would have had on future energy supplies." API said it still opposed the biofuels provisions, which it called "unrealistic."

Do you want more of this? I surely don't.

Ask yourself these questions?

Do you anyone that works full time, but doesn't have health insurance and can't afford to purchase it independently?

Do you know anyone that has to juggle bills to get by? One month they pay one bill and miss the other?

Do you know anyone that can't afford to have heat on in the winter?

How many hours of your work week are dedicated to putting gas in your car? Is a whole day or half of your day's earnings alloted to your car's thirsty tank?

After your work week, how many hours are left in your day? How many hours of that day are spent with your children? If life wasn't so expensive, could you spend more quality time with your loved ones?

If there has ever been a time for change, it is now.
Can we change America for the better? Will other countries ever be able to see our humanitarian side again? Will they ever be able to forget the aggressive nature of this administration? Can the relationships that this administration destroyed ever be mended?

No matter what this administration has done, they can't take our HOPE.
HOPE is a gift that sustains.
It helps one to go forward in adversity, to persevere and wait for our faith to come to fruition.

Do you want more of the past several years? The better question is: "Can you afford (spiritually, emotionally and financially) to continue in the path of the last several years?"

Should or could we hope for a better tomorrow for America?
A tomorrow where we will once again be seen as the nurturing, helpful, compassionate America of many, many years ago.

YES, WE CAN HOPE!
We can act to make sure that we don't live a repeat performance of the past 7 years.

Vote, because hope is not for the weak. Hope is for the victorious.
Hope brought our forefathers to this country.
Hope freed the slaves.
Hope liberated women.
Hope is why this country is black, white, beige, yellow, white and every color in between.
Hope is the reason Ellis Island was the gateway to freedom, dreams and a promise of a better tomorrow.
Hope is why people brave shark infested waters to touch the shores of America.
Hope is why illegal aliens die every day trying to cross our borders.
America is the land of HOPE and opportunity.
Lady Liberty stands as a beacon of Hope, greeting all those that seek change.

This couuntry was founded on HOPE, let's us NEVER FORGET that.
What is life without Hope? What can a country expect with the absence of hope?
Extinction.
