Not too long ago, I wrote about a site called CanvasOnDemand.com . With this site, you can turn a digital or traditional photo into your own piece of canvas art. At that time, I hadn't received my canvas yet. Guess what? I finally got it today!
When I received the message that I would receive my own canvas free of charge, I was ecstatic. Well, that is until I realized that I had to choose one picture. There are certain times when I tend to be indecisive. This situation really drove me bonkers. Day and night, I thought about it. I thought about submitting one of my pictures from my portfolio, but then I decided against it. Can I really hang one of those pictures in the living room where visitors would see...and start to ask questions about my days in the industry? There was also the fact that the picture would be featured on this blog and perhaps on the site itself. Don't get me wrong, the pictures are not provocative. It's just that I have teens and they think everything is um...embarassing. So, I would be forced to choose a picture of one of the kids. Yeah, ONE of the SEVEN! After thinking about it constantly, I decided to choose a black and white picture. That decision narrowed it down to The Princess' portfolio. I explained it to the kids. They all understood. See... my living room, dining room and kitchen are black, red and gray. A black and white shot would be perfect. Of course, I waited until the last possible day to put in the order. I still felt bad, but I had to make a choice!
How long did the whole process take?
I put the order in on August 1st and received the canvas August 8th. It was delivered by FedEx. I was impressed at how quickly the product was created and delivered. I was a little upset because it was slightly damaged during delivery. Be sure you order it far in advance if you plan to give it as a gift. You wouldn't want to run into the problem of returning it and not getting the replacement in time to give it to it's owner.
What size was the canvas?
The canvas measured 16" by 20". I chose to have a standard gallery wrap around. A standard gallery wrap is achieved by stapling the canvas to the back of the wood. It measures 3/4" deep, while a museum gallery wrap is 1 1/2" deep. The other two choices were to have a black frame or premium frame.
How much did the canvas cost?
The purchase price was $89.00 for the canvas plus shipping and handling.
I'm thrilled with the final product. I just wish I could have one done of each child. These pieces would be perfect for an anniversary gift, a Christmas gift for grandparents or a Mother's Day gift! By the way, you can create special collages too. I would have ordered one if I would have had the extra money.
In the future, I want to create a beautiful collage of my very large family. I would like to include the 7 cats, rabbit and dog. Now that would be an unforgetable family heirloom!
