As much as I hate going out after the kids have arrived home from school, I had to venture out last night. The Diva had to have some pictures developed for a Power Point Presentation she has to create tomorrow. The worst part was that we had to hang around WalMart for an hour while the pictures were developed. We had already eaten dinner (I always cook early), so we just picked up a few staples and waited.
After we finally left WalMart, I started feeling a little hungry. I wasn't hungry enough for a meal, just a snack. As I was driving, I told The Diva that I was thinking of getting a Snack Wrap. That's when The Little One's voice echoed out of the darkness. Chippen Pweeeze! Translation: Chicken Selects Please! What's so humorous about this is that I didn't mention that I was going to McDonald's. I merely mentioned my desire for a Snack Wrap. His diagnosis of PDD-Nos relies greatly on his significant speech delay. What amazes me is his ability to relate one thing with another. He associates the Snack Wrap with McDonald's. He can recognize those golden arches no matter where we are. As a matter of fact, his IEP's history reflects that one of his first words (before his regression) was McDonald's and chicken nuggets. Strangely enough, when he started regressing he lost those words. It wasn't until last month that he was able to pronounce it correctly once again.
The McDonald's we visit the most is located in Middletown NY. When I worked at my previous employment, we used to frequent the location in Montague, NJ. What the kids (and I) love about these locations is that they have nice playgrounds and kid-friendly prices. The NJ location used to offer Happy Meals M-F from 4-8pm at $1.49! The Middletown NY location (Dolson Avenue) offered a preschool hour once a week and Family Night with crafts every Tuesday. On those days they had the Breakfasts priced at $.99 and the Happy Meals priced at $1.99. Needless to say, the kids spent a lot of time at McDonald's. Now most of them are teens. They're too big for the playground or the Happy Meals, but they enjoy going when we take The Princess and The Little One. The peculiar part of the Middletown location is that it doesn't have a changing table for babies?!?! I wasn't found that odd, especially because of their preschool hour and Family Night.
What I like the most about the Middletown location is the courteous service. The Little One can often be difficult. For example, when McDonald's was distributing Disney Toys, he was going through his Peter Pan phase. Well, he wanted a Peter Pan toy. They don't always carry every figure every day. Basically, they distribute one toy per week. I explained the situation to the supervisor. She went to the back and looked high and low and........she returned with a Peter Pan toy. The Little One's face lit up like a Christmas tree! I thanked her for going above and beyond her duty. I wish we had more people like her in the world. It would make the world a little nicer and easier for everyone, especially for special needs children...

I bet you were giddy after that! I have a nephew who is autistic, my brother is always on cloud nine when he is able to verbalize his needs.
Yup, those arches are the universal portal to all things joyful. I know I felt that way as a kid, and my daughter is the same way. :O)
That was very sweet of her to make the extra effort for your child.
I came this way from you Squidoo lens.

Many dance bars in Mumbai are still operating with live orchestra; and waitresses are there to serve the food and drinks. Apart from these waitresses there are few more girls can bee seen standing or talking to customers, these girls are the actual bar-girls who used to perform dance before the ban on dance bars. Many of the girls are now entered into flesh-trade; here are several bars in Mumbai where there are hotel rooms/lodges exactly above the bar. Here I have found a snap of such bar, click here. . Trafficking is the major issue originated by such kind of joints. Girls are trafficked from Bangladesh, Kolkata, and from some parts of Delhi, and Rajasthan. Girls from poor family and easily accept the offer to work in Mumbai and finally land up into the hands of these bars. Most of the times there is a middle-man; who eats almost all the money earned by the girls in the beginning. All this can be stopped if the Govt. can remove ban on dance-bars and allow the dance performance. This should be accompanied with some strict rules about the time-limit, code of conduct, and some security to the bar-girls. All the girls working in such bars should undergo scanning to find out all the possible causes of trafficking and the people responsible for it.
